Nazmi Faiz to Beira Mar?

Harimau Muda coach Ong Kim Swee delighted with Nazmi Faiz's chance to play at Portuguese club Beira Mar.

The Malaysia U-23 boss has shown all his happiness about Nazmi Faiz's possibility of playing in Portugal, saying that it's a win for Malaysian youth football development Harimau Muda coach Ong Kim Swee has expressed all his satisfaction after whizkid Nazmi Faiz landed a with Portuguese top flight club Beira Mar. The 17-year-old, who attracted interest from Cardiff City in January, will fly to Portugal with his father on Sunday to train for a week with the Aveiro-based side, in the hope of winning a pre-contract with the team as he is not yet able to sign a professional deal.

Despite the possibility of losing a young star player, Ong told espnstar.com that he was delighted for Faiz and said it was a huge positive for Malaysian football. “This is great news in terms of the development of Malaysian football. We hope that Nazmi will cherish the opportunity to play in Portugal's top flight next season,” he said.

On the trial, he explained: "After a couple of days of speculation in regards to Nazmi heading to Europe, we have now got an agreement between Nazmi and the Portuguese club Beira Mar. "He will go for a trial with them from May 14 until May 21. This is an excellent development." The former Malaysia international added that he is ready to lose one of his best players of the team in a crucial point of the S.League season, saying that it's the club's aim to develop players to play at the highest level.

“We have to make the sacrifice. The S.League is important, but I will never hesitate if any of my players get a chance to play overseas, especially in Europe,” he said. “It is, after all, Harimau Muda's intent to develop Malaysia's future footballers.”

Wan Jamak: “I’m the coach and they need to get back to winning ways”.

After seeing his Kedah team slumped to fourth home defeat in the Super League, Kedah coach Wan Jamak Wan Hassan indicates that there will be changes to his team. 

Kedah produced a lethargic performance on their home turf and was deservedly beaten by PKNS FC. Helmi Youssaef, Nizaruddin Yusof and Rudie Ramli strikes were only replied by a penalty from Vedran Gerc. Wan Jamak was calm during the interview but could not hide his disappointment.

“We made a few changes coming into the match because of the injuries and suspensions. It was small individual mistakes that cost us the game.” He said.

“After this, I’m going to meet the players individually to assess their performances. By doing so, we’ll be able to analyze what’s good and what’s not from their performances so far,” he added.

The coach was also critical in his assessment of his players: “If necessary, I’ll remind them that I’m their coach and they need to get back on to winning ways. They need to (strive to win).” Meanwhile PKNS coach Haji Abdul Rahman Ibrahim chose to comment on the lengthy break of the Super League. The league will be on break for a month and the former national coach wasn’t really pleased with it. “I don’t prefer (the break) because we are playing well tonight," said Haji Abdul Rahman Ibrahim.

"The long holiday could cost us as we might be losing our momentum. After a month’s break, we’ll be playing every three days and that could affect the performance of the players.” When asked about the performance of the players for the night, Haji Abdul Rahman was pleased that his players managed to get a result.

“To be honest, it was a drab match tonight," he told Goal.com. "But we are thankful that we managed to get a result here. We came here on the back of three consecutive losses. The pressure was high for the players and this win could give them (the players) a moral boost.”

Pemburuan kejuaraan ke-20 Manchester United akhirnya tidak kesampaian. Manchester City akhirnya meleburkan impian United setelah menwaskan QPR dalam perlawanan terakhir liga BPL. United terlebih dahulu menamatkan saingan dengan langkah yang betul dengan menewaskan Sunderland di Stadium of Light dengan 1-0 melalui Wayne Rooney. Ketika keputusan MU-Sunderland telah diketahui, 5 minit masa tambahan diberikan di Etihad Stadium dengan City ketinggalan 1-2 kepada QPR yang beraksi dengan 10 pemain setelah Joey Barton dibuang padang. Dzeko menyamakan kedudukan 2-2- ketika memasasuki masa tambahan & dikala United dilihat semakin menghampiri kejuaraan, Sergio Aguero akhirnya menamatkan kemarau 44 tahun City dengan gol yang membolehkan City menjulang juara liga musim 2011-12.

Jelasnya, walaupun United & City berkongsi 28W,5D,5L namun kejuaraan kali ini mencipta sejarah apabila jumlah jaringan 8 gol memisahkan antara City & Man United. Dengan 89 mata yang diperolehi oleh kedua2 pasukan, ternyata saingan kali ini dilihat hanya diantara dua kelab Manchester shj dimana Arsenal ditangga ketiga hanya mampu memungut 70 mata iaitu 19 mata dibelakang.

Musim 2012-13 akan datang pasti menjanjikan perubahan yang mungkin agak besar buat United. Beberapa pemain pasti akan digugurkan & muka2 baru serta bakat2 besar adalah diharap mampu mengembalikan United kedudukan yang lebih baik. Anderson, Berbatov, Pogba & Micheal Owen antara yang hampir pasti meninggalkan United. Selain itu, ada khabar angin menyatakan kemungkinan besar Darren Fletcher sedang mempertimbangkan untuk bersara ekoran masalah kesihatannya. Paul Scholes & Ryan Giggs diberitakan akan terus kekal musim depan namun United tidak lagi mampu untuk terus menagih kudrat mereka dalam setiap perlawanan. Giggs telah diberi kebenaran untuk beraksi di Olimpik bersama pasukan Great Britain manakala Chicharito, Evans, Smalling, Jones & Rooney dihalang oleh United.
